A friend stopped by today with a painted turtle looking for a new home. While I am not running a notwildlife refuge, I agreed that I would keep it until he could find a permanent home.
This painted turtle is at least 5” which is a lot larger than the existing turtles in this pond and I fear that it will not play nice with the koi.
Luckily I have a live cam setup as I will have to keep a close eye on them…
What started off as a few minnows in the pond have turned in to several dozen. Hopefully, these will make a better snacking choice if the new visitor decides that he doesn’t want floating turtle food.
